State of the Author Address

Hey all,

Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything.

It’s been a rollercoaster month; moving house, mental health stuff, plus doing all of this media hoi polloi that comes with being one of the few transgender people in your area who will talk publicly about issues, so… yeah.

The good news is that I’m getting back into it.

Even better is that I’m not alone.

So, in the spirit of branching out I’d like to announce Brave New ‘Verse.

Spiritually it’s an extension of the Shimmerverse, but I’m told by my fellow writers that I’ll have to relax a touch and share. (Boo.)

I’ll be cross-posting a lot of material from here, as well as posting some new material, so please check it out!

More content to come soon. I promise.

In the meantime I hope you’re all well!

Love and laughs,
Miranda Sparks

The Future and Beyond

Hello my wonderful audience,

I should apologize for not posting in a while. You know how it goes; real life catches up and you have to step away. Sadly, writing is my hobby, even though I’m trying to step up my game, and ultimately the Shimmerverse is what pays the price.

That said, there’s still a future here, and still many things I plan to build; not least of which is the second volume of Hellbound Dolls that I will be releasing immediately.

Sorry for the wait, everybody. I hope you enjoy what is yet to come.

Love and laughs,
Miranda Sparks xoxo

Shimmerverse eBook Publications

Recently I’ve been hearing the question, are we going to see Shimmerverse stories collected in eBook format?

Well, ask and ye shall receive!

Now available in ePub format are the first two volumes of Shimmer, and the first volume of Hellbound Dolls.

Shimmer – 01 – Starlight, Star Bright…

Shimmer – 02 – The Reign of Cats and Dogs

Hellbound Dolls – 01 – Going Platinum

Future stories will be collected in a similar way once completed; but for now I’ll keep writing, you can keep reading on the side, and as always donations are more than welcome.

Love and laughs,

Miranda xo

Thank you!

I don’t know what to say.

When I asked for $20, I was hoping for people to chip in little bits; one or two dollars each, but thanks to your generosity we’ve pooled ten times as much.

Thank you. Thank you all so much.

Not only will Shimmer be online for at least another couple of years, but my partner and I get to eat for the next week!

Additionally, there’s still funds leftover to commission some more art for the site. (Any good artists to recommend? Any particular content you’d like to see?)

It means the world to have fans like you. You’re the best.

[Insert Plea for Donations Here]

Hey all,

My partner and I are having trouble making ends meet, and I need to pay off the Shimmerverse domain cost (approx $20).

Any Shimmer fans feel kind enough to hit the donate button on the page and keep the site going for another two years?

Thank you in advance, and FYI, I take requests.

Love and laughs,

ANNOUNCEMENT: Shimmer Annual #1

Hi there, lovely people!

Around June I’d like to celebrate the ongoing adventures of Glimmer Girl with an annual special, which I’d like for you to contribute to.

So, if you’re interested in adding to the body of Shimmer stories already out, write to Miranda at

Hoping to hear from you soon, and hope you all enjoy!

Love and laughs,
Miranda Sparks

NEW STORY: The Hellbound Dolls

Ladies, gentlemen, distinguished readers, I give you the Hellbound Dolls.

Did I mention that I was taking a short break from Shimmer to write evil werewolf trans magical girls?

If I didn’t, well, you’re in for a treat!

WARNING to those who are more susceptible; Hellbound Dolls is decidedly more adult than other Shimmerverse content, and contains in-depth descriptions of gender dysphoria, slurs and street violence.

If any of those things don’t sit well, then this is not the story for you.

To everyone else, enjoy the ride.

Love and laughs,
Miranda Sparks

PS. Remember that you can still donate via PayPal and support the author!

Thank you!

Where do we go from here?

Well ladies, gentlemen and distinguished readers, that brings us to the end of Glimmer Girl’s first adventure, and I’m sure you’re all hungry for more.

So, what comes next for our lady of light?

Firstly, expect Glimmer Girl in a team up story in the upcoming “Glimmer Girl Plus…” specials; in her first outing she teams with Bonfire, a special guest contribution to the Shimmerverse from artist Crystal Frasier.

Then, we take a small detour and travel to Japan for another story; the Hellbound Dolls.

Also be on the lookout for an upcoming Christmas special, in which Glimmer Girl meets Santa Claus… with a twist! (I know, I know; people keep promising that, but believe me, this one is a doozy.)

Then, who knows? There’s lots ahead, and it will be coming at you very, VERY soon.

Stay tuned, dear readers.

Love and laughs,
Miranda Sparks xo

The Best is Yet to Come

Well, the first arc of Shimmer is soon coming to a close, and Kaira Cade’s adventures as Glimmer Girl are just beginning; so what comes next for our heroine?

First I’m pleased to announce that she’ll be starring in a mini-series with chapters released between arcs called “Glimmer Girl Plus.” Each story will see Glimmer Girl team-up with another hero in the ever expanding Shimmerverse.

In her first team-up adventure Glimmer Girl meets Bonfire, a student at the Apex Institute, a school for superheroes in training, featuring characters and concepts developed and contributed by my dear friend, author/artist Crystal Frasier! (Can you feel my excitement?)

Then, while Shimmer takes a short break we’ll indulge in another tale; this time set in modern day Tokyo where a gang known as the Hellbound Dolls face otherworldly monsters, are approached by a werewolf, and are made an offer they can’t refuse. Magical girls, werewolves and youma abound in a story reserved for mature audiences.

Soon after Shimmer returns with the second story arc “Outside In”; the Milestone City Police don’t want a teenage superhero interfering with their job, but when an altercation with a super-powered mob enforcer complicates matters, can her involvement really be avoided? Matters are further complicated when Glimmer Girl becomes trapped in a life she was hoping to avoid.

Much hijinx ahead, folks. Don’t miss it!

Love and laughs,
Miranda Sparks

New Art!

Hey all!

Very excited to tell you that there’s been a new addition to the art gallery courtesy of artist ChickenMask, who I might add was an absolute pleasure to work with while I was commissioning this piece.

Here we have Glimmer Girl showing off her trans pride to you, the reader, even if she’s not so open about it in the story (at least while she’s in costume.)

Enjoy, and check out ChickenMask’s DeviantArt page and tumblr!

Love and laughs,
Miranda Sparks
